Joy Jot #33: Happy Birthday, America!

It’s the big 250th year! Have you enjoyed watching the reels showcasing World Cup visitors enjoying America? The World Cup, plus the semiquincentennial, seems to have brought a special amount of patriotism to the big birthday this week.

A few years back, when my great niece was learning to say “happy birthday,” her mom would have her wish us happy birthday on our special days. When July 4th rolled around, my niece sent out this video, which is too cute to stand it…

Happy birthday, America!

When I think about celebrating Independence Day, I think about parades, flyovers, BBQs, swim parties, and fireworks. I think about spending time with friends and family. I think about the blessings of living in the United States and the freedoms I enjoy. I am thankful to the men and women willing to serve in our military and government.

I hope you have a great 4th of July!

It seems to be a great day to grant you the wishes of the Hindu/Buddhist loving-kindness meditation (Dalai Lama et al., 2016).

May you be healthy

May you be happy

May you be free from suffering

May you find peace

With love,

Amy
