Joy Jot #26: One Annoying Thing

One annoying thing.

If you’re like me, you have a running list of things to do.

I love crossing things off my list—but somehow I never reach the bottom. Some tasks sit there for months or even years. My impressive procrastination skills usually create extra work or undesirable consequences for my future self.

I’ve realized I actually have two lists: the “today” list and the “someday” list—the things I keep pushing off.

In trying to figure out what to do with that “someday” list, I decided to try something new. I call it the “do one annoying thing” strategy. I just pick one thing from the someday list, do it, and then go right back to the today list.

You may be thinking, “Well… yes, that’s how lists work,” but somehow naming the strategy and doing just one thing is making a difference for me. Maybe it will help you too.
