Joy Jot #29: Punch the Bear
The most satisfying thing I’ve done this year is “punch the bear.”
What does that mean, you ask?
At Dollar Mountain at Sun Valley Ski Resort, they set up a kids’ terrain park off the Quarter Dollar lift. This terrain park was extremely entertaining. You ski through tunnels, up, down, and around, finishing with a plastic bear fixed at the end of the course, waiting for you to give it a high five. Of course, if you have a ski pole in one hand, you end up punching the bear’s hand with your fist.
I don’t know why punching the bear’s hand was so satisfying, but it was. I made my husband and friends loop the Quarter Dollar lift so I could keep punching the bear’s hand. It was so fun that I’ve since spent at least an hour on three separate occasions looking for a plastic bear I could put outside my room so I could punch its hand when I do great things—like waking up, feeding the dog, going to the gym—whatever the task. After completing it, I could walk by and punch the bear!
Sadly, this is the best the internet could come up with…
I hope you are laughing!
The other day, my friend texted me to say she was proud of herself for doing something on her own. I told her she needed to punch the bear and sent her this clip…
You are all out there doing your best, and you deserve a little celebration for your hard work. Next time you complete something—no matter how small—go ahead, make a fist, and imagine yourself punching the bear! Way to go!
Good job, everybody!
Have a great day,
Amy
